GIS Data hosting
Sharing GIS data between organizations or on the web can require a large and well-developed technological infrastructure (e.g., servers with large memory capacity), as well as staff time for administrative and maintenance tasks. GSS can provide or help our partners to develop this capacity.
The GSS team can assist in developing web sites or applications to help share or gather data and information. This could include making information available within an organization or to a wide range of public stakeholders. Web sites and applications can include interactive maps for presenting geospatial data or query tools, allowing users to access local environmental information (e.g., water quality, soils, climate, land use). Developing web products starts with a needs assessment to clearly identify each project’s objectives, target audience, and the most suitable technology (software programs, etc.).
development & delivery
GSS can help you develop and deliver different visualizations of your data and information, ranging from traditional hard-copy maps or posters to interactive, online maps. Our team has experience working with ArcGIS Online, a cloud-based Esri mapping platform that allows users to share maps and associated information over the web. We have also created “story maps”, a new Esri tool that allows users to combine high quality maps with narrative text, pictures, graphics, and multimedia content.
