Developing Nations GIS

GeoSpatial Services understands that having a presence in the international community carries with it social responsibility. To contribute our part in developing a smarter, more responsible world, GSS is in the initial stages of partnering with an internationally recognized organization to help bring Geographic Information Systems (GIS) infrastructure to developing nations.

GIS systems have become fundamental for environmental assessment, regional planning, ecosystem conservation and natural resource management. GIS provides a myriad of opportunities for developing nations to build smart, data driven infrastructures that can and will benefit the general population, the public and the private sectors. There is a unique opportunity for developing nations to avoid the costly pitfalls and obstacles that are present when constructing a national infrastructure. GIS allows decision makers to visualize, analyze and identify critical relationships between its geopolitical boundaries and the resources that inhabit these boundaries.

The interdisciplinary nature of GIS provides a platform to foster collaboration between all major disciplines. With GIS, agricultural engineers can work with economists to drive food prices down and build better agricultural systems. Civil engineers and health care organizations can design smarter geospatially aware health care facilities that can serve people more efficiently and effectively. Architects and city planners can design and construct the future cities of tomorrow. All of these once desperate industries and organizations can now work together to provide the people of a nation with systems that work better for them and the rest of the global community. GIS has and will continue to drive decision making and provide critical information to the people who need it most.
